A Bust

My agate-burnished papaya is no more.......and I actually really liked it.   It exploded in the firing, but happily not destroying everything else, so here's what came of the so-called sculpture class.........

Beautiful young Perla, the daughter of a friend's housekeeper who sits for a few of us.
A decent start......

On this visit I haven't found a teacher in sculpture, drawing or painting, so I'll just continue enjoying myself and try to capture what I can.  Learning to look is the most important step anyway.

San Miguel de Allende: Always a Fiesta

The main plaza, the Jardin, is filled with children with bags of confetti-filled eggs, or cascarones. These are smashed on the heads of anyone who is passive (like me).

He remained unscathed, although other pooches were not as lucky (or menacing)
Yay.  Another wedding, with the flower and tequila-laden burrow and mariachis.

Escultura at the Instituto Allende

I started my sculpture class yesterday at the Insituto. I'm working in clay that will be fired.  Then we have the option of working the same piece in marble.  I just might try it!

Just another day

A very nice way to start any day;  beautiful fresh fruit and good coffee up on the terrace.

 A visit to the market

Xoloitzcuintli puppies for sale!  (Mexican hairless, if you couldn't guess)
I want this hair
What a luxury to have ones boot's cleaned and polished expertly, and for only $1.34 US

Beautiful San Miguel

I spent the day getting information on art and Spanish classes and that meant walking all over town.
What a joy to immerse myself in this rich culture again.

The Calendaria celebration is taking place at Parque Juarez.   The entire park is filled with plant vendors from all over Mexico.
The altar.  The celebration blesses the seeds so that they may produce well to provide food for all.

 There's my shadow!
 Collapse on the daybed.

Arrival in San Miguel de Allende!

Yipee,  my flight from La Paz to Mexico City and my shuttle from there to San Miguel all went without a hitch.  I arrived at my casita just as it got dark.....here's the view from the roof.

The next morning

My street, Jesus

 The unprepossessing entry
The downstairs living area with kitchen, half bath and a little walled garden behind it.
