Wooden Boat Festival and John Steinbeck's "Western Flyer"

Early morning on the first day of Port Townsend's best festival.

The Western Flyer,  the boat that John Steinbeck and Ed "Doc" Ricketts took to Baja California and whose journey was chronicled in "The Log from the Sea of Cortez" had been at the bottom of the Puget Sound for some time and is now being restored here.   Have a look.........

There was some very nice paella served, too!

A perfect ending to the festival with a glass of wine on the Vito Dumas

Other treasures nearby: Sequim farms and Coopeville dining

It's time to harvest the lavender at Jardin du Soleil..........

.....and to paint it

There's a great restaurant across the water from Port Townsend;  just a ferry ride away is the Oystercatcher in Coopeville
oh my, I guess we ate most of it.  It was our appetizer of sweetbreads and mussels from the waters of Penn Cove, right out the window

A Treasure in my Back Yard

It's right here!

Fort Worden State Park.  It's where I take NIA classes, it's where I walk, where I center myself.

Centrum:  organizer of summer music festivals and concerts and where Jacqueline works when she's not in Mexico at her cafe.
(She's not crazy about her mother going to her workplace to take a picture of her.........)
The Marine Science Center

A beautiful summer evening and a pre-concert picnic with friends Cynthia, Rick and Elena.
Wheeler Theater , just a short walk away.  (that's Jacqueline in the box office)

Port Townsend: Seaweed at Low Tide

I walked to Chetzemoka Park and onto the beach at low tide and here is what I found

The water in the tide pool was about six inches deep and it's reflections added another layer of beauty
