Semana Santa: Holy Week in San Miguel

Holy week began on Friday with the installation of altars all over the city.  Private homes and businesses are decorated and great care is given to their creation.

On Palm Sunday two processions take place, both showing Christ's entry into Jersalem.  Each takes the worshippers to a different church.

(without the cars, you could believe you were in Jersusalem)

Notice the purple orb emanating from the ringing bell as Christ arrives at San Francisco!

 someone's had enough..........
Spreading chamomile, representing the Virgin's humility, on the path of the procession

The Christian and indigenous always blend in the religious expressions here in San Miguel.
